Hanging out with friends and partying sounds fun, but at times, it can be mentally draining. You might want to have fun but without the added pressure of people watching you. Well, worry no more because we have curated a list of 15 things you can do all alone by yourself!
- Go to an amusement park: It will not only act as a break from the humdrum of everyday life and work, but doing it alone will give you greater freedom to truly enjoy yourself on the rides!
- Learn new stuff: Okay, this sounds boring, but let me explain. We’re accustomed to learning in the traditional sense only around schoolmates or workmates and hence there usually isn’t fun attached to it. Learn about the randomest topics you are interested in, through documentaries and Youtube videos, it’s way more fun than it sounds!
- Go on a walk: A perfect way to romanticise your life – plug in your headphones and go have a main-character moment!
- Go on a walk, but this time without headphones: How long has it been since you truly looked around you and observed not just people but also the beauty of nature? Take a walk, appreciate nature, click some photos and enjoy yourself!
- Explore your city like a tourist: Appreciate your city like a solo traveller would.
- Volunteer: Volunteer for beach clean drives, donation drives or any such cause that you hold to be important. It’ll give you a sense of satisfaction and help others as well.
- Colour: This sounds childish, but it is one of the purest ways to enjoy yourself. Simply print out a page from a colouring book, take those old sketchpens out and get to work!
- Try karaoke: Karaoke is usually more fun with friends, but alone, you have the freedom to go absolutely in with your loudest voice and most passionate emotions.
- Make yourself a moodboard: Curate images, videos and GIFs of what you want your future to be like – or even an alternate version of yourself! Go crazy with it! You can even share it later with your friends if you want.
- Learn a useless skill: While this is ‘unproductive’ in the modern sense, learning a random party trick or two will not only make you sheepishly proud of yourself but will also provide a never-ending cure for boredom.
- Journal: Journaling is way more therapeutic than people give it credit for. It will help you organise and understand your own emotions and feelings which will ultimately help you build better relationships with yourself and other people.
- Experiment with new recipes: Even if you’re not that good at cooking, it’s still fun to experiment with recipes from different cultures – with some music or an interesting podcast in the background!
- Dance: Dance alone in your space – move those muscles, immerse yourself in the tunes and let go of all worries!
- Pick up an old hobby: Were you interested in drawing? Painting? Cricket? Collecting coins? Well, it’s time to pick it back up! It’ll make you nostalgic and add joy to your life :’)
- Treat yourself: Take yourself out to dates and treat yourself simply for being. Acknowledge that living is hard but continue to enjoy the process <3
